On August 15, a boater called the Gatineau police to report a speedboat travelling aggressively on La Rivière Blanche. While on the phone, the speedboat deliberately ran into the caller's boat. Due to the collision, one passenger suffered bodily injuries and the victim's boat was declared a total loss.
The Gatineau police have now laid charges on the two individuals on the speedboat that caused the incident. The Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP) has officially laid charges on both men.
Maxime Crépeau, 33, will face charges of criminal harassment, armed assault, assault causing bodily harm, dangerous operation of means of transport, failure to stop during an accident, and damages exceeding $5,000.
The second suspect, Philip Van Dieren, 31, faces charges of criminal harassment, armed assault, and failure to comply with a probation order.
