Onslow kindergarten class built bug hotels for Earth Day

In a delightful prelude to Earth Day, the youngest students at Onslow Elementary School in Quyon were buzzing with excitement and learning. Under the guidance of kindergarten teacher Sofia Ferreira, her class embarked on a hands-on educational journey to explore the vital role insects play in our ecosystem. These curious kindergarteners delved into the world of insects, learning about their diverse roles, from pollination to soil aeration. The highlight of their project was constructing "bug hotels," creative sanctuaries for bugs to live in, lay eggs, and hibernate during the winter months. Using natural materials found in gardens and forests, they crafted environments that are not only functional but also educational. These bug hotels, now nestled in the school’s green spaces, stand as a testament to the innovative ways children can contribute to environmental conservation.
