Centre Wakefield La Pêche is excited to launch a new birdwatching workshop series titled "Birdwatching Basics," starting May 1st. This series, led by Rick Muise, a renowned local ornithologist, is tailored for enthusiasts eager to develop their bird identification skills and deepen their understanding of avian behaviours.
The workshop is structured into one classroom session and three subsequent field outings, enabling hands-on learning in varied local terrains. Each session will focus on practical skills like using binoculars, navigating through bird guides, and utilising birdwatching apps effectively. Rick Muise will guide participants on how to discern birds based on field markings—critical for species identification.
Designed for a small group, the workshop ensures personalised guidance. With more than eight attendees, sessions will be split over two days to maintain an intimate learning environment. Participants are asked to bring their own binoculars for a complete immersive experience.
Scheduled on four consecutive Wednesdays from 8-10 AM, beginning May 1, 2024, the program offers a unique opportunity to explore local nature trails and connect with fellow birdwatching aficionados. Given the limited availability, prospective participants are encouraged to register early to secure their spot. Registration details and further information can be found at: https://www.centrewakefieldlapeche.ca/event-5674844. This initiative not only aims to educate but also to foster a sense of community among local birdwatchers and contribute to regional ornithological conservation efforts.
