The Buckingham Curling Club is actively pursuing a grant from the Quebec Ministry of Education's Financial Assistance Program for Recreational, Sports, and Outdoor Infrastructure (PAFIRSPA) for renovations to its pavilion and main components.
In a crucial step forward, the Gatineau City Council passed a resolution on March 19, 2024, to support the club's application.
Germain Dufour, President of the Buckingham Curling Club, emphasized the nature of the city's support, stating, "The resolution from the City Council is a standard eligibility requirement for the PAFIRSPA program and does not involve any financial commitment or direct involvement in the project's execution from the city."
The club's initiative aims to secure financial backing from the MEQ to carry out essential renovation work. The city's support, while not financial, is vital for the club's application process.
The Buckingham Curling Club remains hopeful for a positive outcome from their grant application and appreciates the community's interest and support.
